From April 3 to July 5, 2026, Gallerie d'Italia – Napoli presents the exhibition “Vortici: Alexi Worth in Dialogue with Ceramics,” curated by Silvia Gaspardo Moro and Richard Neer. This exhibition establishes an unprecedented dialogue between the Attic and Magna Graecia ceramics of the Intesa Sanpaolo Collection and the contemporary art of American artist Alexi Worth.
Nine canvases by Alexi Worth—who is exhibiting in Italy for the first time—share the galleries’ halls with four kraters from the Caputi Collection. This historic 19th-century archaeological assemblage, now part of Intesa Sanpaolo’s artistic heritage, was selected by Richard Neer—Professor of Art History at the University of Chicago—to form a cross-historical reflection on the themes of the symposium and the gestures associated with drinking.
Alexi Worth presents images that are “made by the mind and by the hands.” Employing a distinctly precise and compressed style, Worth offers enigmatic and reinvented versions of ordinary objects—most recently, wine glasses, hands, and leaves. Characterized by subtly unusual surfaces and viewpoints, Worth’s art stands out for its essentiality, suggesting an endeavor to restore the contemplative power of abstraction to figurative art.
