DC Moore Gallery is pleased to present Face, a group exhibition of portraits and self-portraits. Using multiplicity and exaggerated or abstracted features, these works create a network of gazes between the faces and the viewer. In some works, such as Alex Katz’s Portrait of Al Held and George Tooker’s Sibyl, the face directly addresses the viewer. In Jacob Lawrence’s Time, the figure’s face is turned away, the face of the clock taking its place.
